Eric's Hampden Links

As a new graduate student, I first heard of Hampden while searching for housing. I wanted to live in a row house instead of an apartment, and Hampden seemed to be the place -- cheap, and a very short walk to campus. For some reason, however, most students at Hopkins seem to think that Hampden is foreign country, and have never ventured over here.

Food

Golden West Cafe 1105 West 36th St. (closed Tuesday)
One of the best breakfasts in Baltimore, including pancakes, french toast, breakfast burritos, and served all day. Monday night is half price burger (including black bean) and beer night. The service is ... never the same twice, something is always just slightly off, making each trip unique. Weekday breakfast is the best time to go for fast service.
Cafe Hon 1002 West 36th St.
Umm... Yeah. Very Hampden. Hon.
Angelo's Pizza
Cheap, huge (30"), slices of pizza. They also have fast, cheap, delivery. The pizza is pretty darned good, especially for the price.
Suzie's Soba 1009 West 36th St.
Korean and Japanese food, lots of yummy noodles. Slightly overpriced.
Holy Frijoles 908 West 36th St.
Mexican food, although it pales in comparison to almost anything you find in California. The food is good, but more along the lines of Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican.
Common Ground 819 West 36th St.
Local coffeeshop. The ordering area is cramped, but they are good place to grab a morning snack before heading to school.
Grill Art Cafe 1011 West 36th St.
Tried to eat here for dinner once, the service was awful. Not only did they not take our order, or bring us bread, but when we left 20 minutes later, we were yelled at for not leaving any money. Money for what? We were never served.

Other

The Wine Source 3601 Elm Ave.
My favorite liquor store in the city, at least for wine. Large selection, with friendly staff. Everything you could want ... except for the part about not being open on Sunday.

Links... not well sorted
