Los Angeles Harbor College

LAHC was the community college I went to for ~3 years back in Los Angeles. It was basically my highschool, since I was homeschooled before that and I started attending it when I was 16. I met a lot of cool people there, and it was a nice place to visit. I am very, very glad I've moved on since then. Anyway, LAHC is also where I learned much of the nitty gritty about actual photography, and so as a final project I decided to focus in on what makes LAHC unique. Instead of presenting the photos in the usual fashion, I've decided to link to them from certain words in the first paragraphs that describe LAHC on its homepage.

For over half a century, Los Angeles Harbor College has been the college of choice for Harbor-area residents seeking educational excellence with a personal touch

From its beginning in September of 1949 when the first students passed through the doors, Harbor College has grown from a technically oriented college into a comprehensive institution of higher learning with a broad spectrum of transfer, vocational, and community services programs.

Today, the nearly 8,000 students that enroll each semester in credit courses reflect the diverse ethnic composition of the communities served by the college. One of nine two-year public community colleges comprising the Los Angeles Community College District, Harbor College prides itself on being the college of choice for the nearly 400,000 residents of Carson, Harbor City, Gardena, Lomita, San Pedro, Wilmington, and the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Harbor College also takes pride in being a leader among community colleges in educational applications of modern technology. True to its tradition, Harbor College is energetically working to implement techniques and programs to prepare its students for the rapidly changing workplace. An important part of that effort is Harbor College's firm commitment to creating and building partnerships with local business, community, and civic organizations to maximize the quality and scope of its educational programs.
