Me in a Panama Hat
Position: Internet Consultant

After twenty years working with Pacific Bell I set out on my own, offering consulting services to organizations endeavoring to understand and use the Internet effectively in their business or service. Although I am comfortable working with Service Providers and companies seeking to do business on the web, I have a special interest in Educational and Rural/Tribal applications of Internet technologies.

While with Pacific Bell Internet I was responsible for the design and implementation of their Internet dial-access product. Of special note was the fully redundant and geographically distributed user authentication and usage accounting system. I was, and continue to be, deeply involved in the emerging field of roaming technologies in the Internet Access field.

Previously I was technical director of Pacific Bell's widely recognized Internet in the schools project. This pioneering work connected over 27,000 students at more than 25 schools together and to the world.

I am currently active in many ways in the Internet field, including...

Besides my interests in the net I am also active in other areas. I am a Director and Past President of the Camp Unalayee Association. This exceptional group operates wilderness programs for youth in California, including a summer camp in the Trinity Alps of Northern California.

I have found that I can often learn a lot about a person by looking at the books in their library. If you'd like to test that theory you can take a look at a list of my favorite books.

However, for a far more interesting idea of a home page than this one, I suggest you check out my son's (Eric Perlman) home page at http://www.yikes.com/~eric.

My current favorite quotes...
" We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."
  Albert Einstein

" If you cannot win, make the one ahead of you break the record."
  Steve Prefontaine
